Welcome to SusanScann.com. I am Susan Scann. I am running for the new seat in the Clark County Nevada District Court, Department 25. After practicing law for 31 years in Nevada and having served for the past 27 years as a Judge Pro Tem in the Las Vegas Municipal Court, I have the extensive experience to make a difference on the District Court.
With all the adverse publicity our judiciary has received over the past year due to judges not performing to the standards the public expects; it is important that qualified lawyers with extensive courtroom experience come forward and run to restore integrity to the judiciary. This is exactly what I am doing. I have nearly 100 civil trials and I know how a courtroom is to be run for the effective administration of justice.
Let me tell you briefly about me. I have handled numerous litigation cases throughout my 31 years practicing law in Nevada. I received the highest rating of all candidates in the Department 25 race for legal ethics and competency from my fellow lawyers. I was a founding member of the Clark County Pro Bono Committee that increased access to the Courts for low income people. I was a leader in establishing ethics for the judiciary during my six year term serving on the State Bar Ethics Committee.
The administration of justice requires that courtrooms provide a forum where every lawyer and litigant is able to present his or her case before a fair, just and impartial jurist. People should see the courtroom as a place where all positions are respected and thoughtfully analyzed. I have the experience, background and temperament to achieve these results.
